Greetings 4th day! Hi, I’m Phil Bamesberger for those of you I have not met yet and it’s an
honor to be your Lay Director for CVDC. Now my involvement in Via de Cristo only dates back to 2015, but I can say I have a lot of great memories in that short amount of time.
Join me as I walk down memory lane. “Remember when!” We are reminded repeatedly throughout scripture to remember. Especially referring to the Israelites as they transitioned into a new life. “Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out.” God didn’t say remember when you thought you were distraught, He wanted them to remember what was important. He gives them new life. With God’s help through Via de Cristo, we can expose fellow Christians to a new life. One that they didn’t know existed. But we must remember. Remember what it felt like when you were a pilgrim. Remember the blessings experienced in serving. Remember what is important.
This is our opportunity to plant mustard seeds, make disciples, and share the Gospel to grow Christs kingdom. If you have been serving and are starting to feel weary or haven’t served at all in a while… Remember what is important. We are the hands and feet of Christ as we offer a new experience for a future pilgrim to strengthen their faith in a world that is forgetting what is important. Igniting our communion with Christ. We can do that through our love and service to others… the Via de Cristo way, “do this in remembrance of Me.” Please feel free to reach out to me with thoughts, concerns, or suggestions at pbamesberger@gmail.com. God loves you and so do I!
...and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hand.” 1 Samuel 17:47
I love this part of David's answer to the Giant! David knows that the battle is already won, the God that spoke everything into existence just has to speak and Goliath will be delivered to him. It is the same today, the battle against Satan has already been won, Christ beat Satan at the cross and beat death at the empty tomb. Our task today is to look to Him, to give our trials and troubles over to Jesus. We need to stop fighting and surrender to our Savior. Satan and death holds no power over us just as Goliath held no power over David. Give your fears to God and allow Him to fight the battle. Spend time with our Savior today, begin with this amazing Story in 1 Samuel the 17th Chapter.
Father grant in us the spirit of knowing that the battle is already won, that You and You alone are the Master of everything and our lives were saved at the cross and the empty tomb. Make us to trust that Satan and this world has no power over us, that Your Son has covered us completely. We praise You for loving us and ask that You grant us the spirit to love as You love. In Jesus Name. AMEN! Dennis Lawson
