A Note from our Spiritual Director

If only I would take time daily in God's presence to drink of His love. It is only when I am wholly surrendered to the Holy spirit that I will be able to live according to God's will for my life. Father I will do whatever you ask of me today if only you give me Your grace to be obedient. ~ Amen

Lay Director's Message

Stuck in a Seasonal Solo Silo? May we suggest 72 hours of being elevated in God’s grace above 7,200 feet?

Via de Cristo is Spanish for “The Way of Christ.”

Colorado Via de Cristo’s first retreat was planted at a location almost 7,500 feet elevation in 1997. Our most recent retreats have transpired (as we’ve been inspired) at a similar elevation.

These 72-hour events…

…equate to our 7,200+ foot closer-to-heaven havens…

…aimed at assimilating trekkers traversing this world’s journey who are feeling “spiritually flat” in the flatlands of life.

God establishes us in outposts in the Valley. Oswald Chambers said a century ago that we “were built for the Valley, for the ordinary stuff of life.” He also wrote how “God gives us the vision; then He takes us down to the valley” where too often “we faint and give way.”

I testify that my Via de Cristo weekends have opened my windows to experience God’s glory in His mountain majesty. Seeing His glory there through His people has revitalized me to live for His glory in the valleys of life …alongside some of those very people I met mountainside.

Come April 2022, Colorado Via de Cristo will continue to add to the well over 1,000 people who’ve banded together to experience 44 retreats and counting as we move toward that 25th year.

A number of years ago, I noted Via de Cristo’s national leaders who stressed that “Via de Cristo presents methods for renewal of the Christian life......penetrating environments, and a strategy to affect daily living.” This broader movement of spiritual renewal even beyond Via de Cristo actually began internationally within WWII torn-Europe. Hundreds of thousands have been touched since then globally. Its original aim included communicating the joy of faith based upon focusing on God’s grace. Grace in the Bible is a multi-faceted word centered in God’s giftedness to us. One of the ways I distinguish grace is to emphasize how “grace” is God working on the inside-out of us versus the outside-in “driven” impetus we too often encounter in life. Some people after a weekend describe how their faith has moved 10 inches down from their head to their heart.

We invite you to experience the Way of Christ with us.
