A Message from the Rectora

I’m Diane Zand, and I am honored to be the Rectora for VDC #51. For those of you that
don’t know me, allow me to introduce myself to our wonderful 4 th Day community.
I attended VDC #9 in 2001 as a pilgrim and sat at the table of Kindness. It was a life-
changing weekend for me where I experienced God’s unconditional love and saw how
we are called to love each other. Make a friend, be a friend and introduce our friend to
Jesus! Since then, I have served multiple weekends, most recently as VDC #50
Assistant Rectora .
I have been a life-long Lutheran, growing up in the LCMS church in Southwestern
Minnesota. When I moved to Colorado Springs, I became a member of Holy Cross
Lutheran (LCMS) and eventually switched over to my neighborhood church, Christ the
King Lutheran Church (ELCA), in Colorado Springs in 2015. I have been involved
throughout my life in the churches I have attended. Most recently with Christ the King, I
have served on our church council for the past 8 years, 6 of them as president. I sing
with our choir, run the sound board and assist our minister. If that sounds like a lot, it is,
because we are a small church and everyone wears multiple hats.
As I’ve grown older, it has become more and more apparent to me what my gifts are,
and what they aren’t. I am so grateful to work at a company where my gifts are utilized
every day. I work as a Consultant level Software Developer at Progressive Insurance
company. At this level I don’t really develop much software anymore and I get to guide,
mentor and help grow the people around me. I absolutely love it. The mantra from
VDC where we say make a friend, be a friend is core to my being. So the idea that I get
to help everyone be the best version of themselves and offer my friendship to them is a
reason I get up every day and look forward to working with them.
Thank you for letting me share a bit about myself. I’m so excited to see what God has in
store for us. I am incredibly honored to serve as the Rectora for VDC #51. I ask that
each of you prayerfully consider where you might serve on team or sponsor a pilgrim in
this upcoming weekend.

Luggage @ Hideaway Inn (Luggage directed by Chas & Angels)
Sponsor Communion: Thursday, 7:15 pm—meet in Weekend Prayer Chapel.
Agape Set Up: Saturday, 2:30 p.m. – meet in Dining Hall.
AGAPE Serenade: Saturday, 5:00 pm—meet in Dining Hall. 
Clausura: Sunday, 3:00 pm— Hideaway Inn and Conference Center.
